Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") is a part of your hosting agreement with SoreTech for the purpose of defining the terms for using my web hosting services. This Policy is in place to protect the security, reliability, and integrity of the hosting environment for all clients.
By using my web hosting services, you agree to comply with this policy.
1. Lawful Use
You agree to use my services only for lawful purposes. You must not use my services to host or transmit any material that is unlawful, fraudulent, or has an illegal purpose or effect. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Anything that violates UK law, including copyright, trademark, and intellectual property rights.
- Spamming, sending unsolicited emails, or using the service to promote illegal activities.
- Hosting or distributing any content that is defamatory, obscene, offensive, hateful, or discriminatory.
- Any activities that are fraudulent, such as phishing or online scams.
2. Prohibited Content
The following types of content are strictly prohibited on my servers:
- Illegal Content: Any material that is illegal in the UK, including pirated software, copyrighted material without permission, or child sexual abuse material.
- Malicious Content: Any files, code, or software designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to a computer system, such as viruses, malware, or spyware.
- Offensive Material: Content that is excessively violent, hateful, or encourages discrimination or harm against individuals or groups.
- Unauthorised Access: Any attempts to access, scan, or probe the security of the server or any other network without explicit permission.
3. Resource Usage
To ensure fair usage and optimal performance for all clients, your website must not consume an excessive amount of server resources. This includes CPU, memory, and disk space.
- My hosting is designed for micro and small websites and is not suitable for large-scale applications, file storage, or high-traffic sites.
- If your website's resource usage negatively impacts the performance of other clients' websites on the same server, you will be notified and may be required to reduce your usage or upgrade to a more suitable plan.
4. Responsibility and Security
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs on your hosting account. You must keep your login details secure and confidential.
- Where you are provided with direct control over the website application (e.g., the Self-Managed WordPress plan), you are fully responsible for the security, management, and maintenance of all website software (including, but not limited to, the content management system, plugins, and themes). It is your responsibility** to perform all necessary security and feature updates promptly.
- For all other managed plans, SoreTech is responsible for the core platform and hosting security. You remain responsible for ensuring the content you provide and upload does not contain malware or security risks.
5. Enforcement and Consequences
I reserve the right to determine, in my sole discretion, whether there has been a breach of this policy.
If a breach occurs, I may take any of the following actions:
- Issue a formal warning.
- Immediately suspend or terminate your hosting account.
- Remove any infringing content without notice.
- Report the activity to law enforcement if required.
Any material breach of this policy will result in the immediate and permanent termination of your services without refund.
6. Changes to this Policy
I reserve the right to revise this policy at any time. Any changes will be posted on soretech.co.uk or communicated to you directly. It is your responsibility to stay informed of any updates.
Violations may result in suspension or termination of service. If you're unsure whether your content or usage complies, feel free to ask me.
